Who we are

Preserving Heritage Through Responsible Tourism

The Central Province Tour Guide Lecturers Association (CPTGLA) is a registered non-governmental organization representing the top three categories of licensed guide lecturers in Sri Lanka’s Central Province – home to the island’s highest concentration of UNESCO World Heritage sites. From the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic to the pristine waterfalls, Pekoe Trail, and ancient royal palaces, this region embodies the essence of Sri Lanka’s cultural, natural, and spiritual heritage. Our members specialize in diverse areas, including nature, adventure, cultural, heritage, and experience-based tourism, ensuring that every visitor discovers the hidden beauty and authenticity of this remarkable province.

As a proud partner of institutions such as the UNDP, European Union, and the Central Provincial Council, CPTGLA champions sustainable tourism and community development. Our initiatives – including eco-friendly farming, traditional craftsmanship, and biodiversity preservation – empower local villagers while promoting environmentally responsible travel. Through projects like the Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme (GEF Phase 7), we connect travelers to authentic rural experiences such as beekeeping, Ayurveda, meditation, and eco-accommodation in the Knuckles Conservation Forest buffer zones, fostering a balance between conservation, culture, and economic sustainability.
